Baptized!

Today was a wonderful day! This morning Indy was baptized at our church. We are very proud! As Southern Baptists, we don't sprinkle our infants, as others do, but we do have baby dedications. When someone "asks Jesus into their hearts" (which I will explain in a minute), they can choose to be baptized, where they are "dunked" by the pastor, thus following Jesus' command to be baptized in His name and showing the world that they are now "saved". This is what Indy did today. He actually asked Jesus into his heart two years ago, but just 3 months ago told me he wanted to be baptized. We scheduled it for this Sunday because (1) this is the last day Nicky is off for the next 4-6 weeks and (2) my mom and grandmother are here visiting. All that made it extra special! Nicky's parents were also able to be there, so he had a whole slew of people there to support him and encourage him. It was great!

Just before the baptism, Pastor Kevin read a verse from Mark 10 about the little children coming to Jesus. Here Indy waits while the verses are read.

After church, we all went over to Pizza Hut for lunch. It was a lot of fun with such a big group. And, what was really funny was that the preacher who baptized Indy showed up a little later with his family, too! It was neat that he was able to meet all the family members. Then, after that, we went over to Nicky's parents' house to pick up my birthday card and present and they got to show off their new camper. Plus, his mom gave me a beautiful lily that's just about to bloom. Yay! She knows I won't kill lilies because their bulbs are protected under the ground!! lol




Later in the afternoon, I had some time to sit and visit with my mom and show her the pictures of our anniversary trip. Then, I had to take Indy to a new believer class he's taking at church this month and then we came home and made tacos for dinner. So, it's been a really nice day.


Back to the thing about having Jesus in your heart. Here's the quick version of what what the Bible says: All have sinned and are separated from God. (Romans 3:23) God still loves us. (Romans 5:8) Sin earns death in hell - God gives life in heaven. (Romans 6:23) Confess your sins. Turn from your sins. Believe in your heart. Ask Jesus to save you. (Romans 10:9-10, 13) This is what Indy did. He prayed a prayer admitting he was a sinner, asking Jesus to forgive him and save him, then thanking God for forgiving him. Now, Indy will be spending eternity in heaven with God and will have a Friend who will never leave him. Maybe you'd like to do this too. It's easy and is the best decision you'll ever make. :-) Oh, and yes, the rest of our family has done this too, except Levi. He's a little too young yet. But, man, is our house full of sinners!! lol
