Monday, Day 3

Continuing on my daily tales of our Disney trip, I'm up to Monday. This day we went to Epcot. It was only me, my kids, and my mom. Richard and his family went to the beach on the East coast to spend the day. Let me just preface this day by saying that the girls and I (and Indy) play on a website called VMK. It's Virtual Magic Kingdom (www.vmk.com) and you make up a little character and play games and earn credits and buy stuff and trade stuff and make friends. It's kinda cool and very safe. So, each of the girls, Indy, and myself all have little characters we play and we also have our own list of friends and our own rooms and our own stuff. It's lots of fun, and if you know me, you know I'm a kid person, so I have lots of "friends" who are actually kids. It's fun. Of course, I'm usually online after most of my friends have been sent to bed, so I just play lots of games. Ok, I digress...so, on VMK they have 2 things that apply to our trip. One is Hidden Mickeys and the other is quests. There are 3 kinds of quests on VMK: online quests (within VMK site), print at home and take to the parks (the hardest ones), and in-park quests you get when you get to the actual Magic Kingdom. We took one with us, which we absolutely could NOT do and then we actually did the in-park one. But, later on that. Back to the Hidden Mickeys. On VMK there are Hidden Mickeys (heads) you have to search for and take pictures of (with your virtual camera). If you find one, you get points. Back to Hidden Mickeys later.

So, we went to Epcot and the first thing we did was "the big ball" (Spaceship Earth). The boys thought that was something. And, guess what! We found TWO hidden Mickeys in there!! I had actually read about them in my prep book, Walt Disney World With Kids, 2007. So, after that, it was on to Test Track, which Savannah and I rode, but Ashton opted out of, which was also ok, cause then she could stay with my mom and the boys. So, after the ride, we were checking out the stuff in the gift shop (of course ALL rides end in a gift shop) and found a book to buy called, Hidden Mickeys. Well, you just know I bought that one! So, all day we had a blast looking for hidden Mickey's all over Epcot. We found most of them, but missed some. It was a lot of fun, especially when people would see us looking so intently at apparently nothing and then shouting, "I see it!!" One father and his kids came up, with no hesitation or shyness, stood right next to us and looked right where we were looking and said, "I see it too!". We almost busted out laughing. Turns out, that family was looking for Hidden Mickeys, too!! How fun!

Anyway, after Epcot, we went home and had dinner (ordered pizza) then Rich and Leslie kept all the boys and me, the girls, and my mom went over to the Magic Kingdom to do our VMK quests. We did one in-park one, which Ashton got the answers right to, so she got a virtual prize for her room on VMK. Then, we tried another one about the Pirates of the Caribbean. So, we had to go ride the ride and find the answers. There were only 4 questions, but we could only find 3 answers. So, we figured we'd try again tomorrow when we returned to the MK. We got home late and were tired, but slept well. More tomorrow on the MK and Hidden Mickeys!
